In 2001, Sarah Muphy joined the Serqet family by acquiring her first Ibizan when she was eleven years old. Over the years, Sarah has co-owned various Ibizans and has exclusively handled our dogs. In both junior showmanship and breed, Sarah has shown the skills necessary to properly present this difficult, yet rewarding, breed. She has an eye for Ibizans and has helped to evaluate our litters since we've been working together. In the future, Sarah will continue the Serqet name by focussing her breeding around the lines we've worked so hard to produce.
At dog shows, Sarah is consistantly promoting the Ibizan by allowing newcomers to meet the dogs and tell them anything they'd want to know about the breed. She has worked with numerous breeds besides Ibizans in all seven groups. She has gotten various compliments on her way and style of dog handling, many of them coming from breeders who she has shown dogs for who consider their breeds extremely difficult to bond with and present to their fullest. Currently, Sarah is involved with many Miscellaneous and FSS breeds, helping to spread the word and get them recognized. Feel free to introduce yourself to Sarah should you see her at a show. If you have any questions about Ibizans or handling/dog shows in general, she would be delighted to help you with whatever you need. She is our representitive in the field!
Sarah hopes to become involved with lure coursing in the near future. Her involvement in the conformation ring includes Ibizan Hounds, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Afghan Hounds, Italian Greyhounds, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Border Collies, Chinese Cresteds, Bedlington Terriers, Parson Russell Terriers, Pyrenean Shepherds, Dogue de Bordeaux and others. Showing that she isn't just a one-breed handler, in the 2007 Montgomery County Kennel Club terrier specialty, showing a Parson Russell Terrier when classes were considered the national specialty by the PRTAA, Sarah and "Nash" made the final cut of about 15 out of over 90 entries. We consider Sarah a part of our family and she considers us as her's, we feel she presents our dogs to their fullest every time she enters the ring and the dogs have a very special bond with her which can be hard to earn from such a reserved breed. They seem to understand she is an "Ibizan person" and they give her a lot of trust that we've found they do not give to strangers easily. Our dogs consider her a part of their pack as she visits us often and is involved with every facet of showing them: grooming, feeding, excersizing and playing with them even more than actually going into the ring. When she visits, Hogan actually opens her bedroom door to wake her in the mornings!
